DC Days
What is DC Days?
DC Days is ANA’s annual advocacy event. Each spring our members from across the country come to Washington, DC for training, lobbying, and strategy sessions. We lobby members of Congress and staff at executive agencies such as the Department of Energy and Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Why should I come to DC Days?

-Learn about nuclear issues while gaining valuable advocacy experience

-Meet and network with experts from national and grassroots organizations

-Build your resume by meeting with members of Congress and the Obama administration

2012 in Review

DC Days 2012 was a great success, with over 70 participantsfrom 21 states as well as guests from Russia, Kazakhstan, Finland, and Ukraine. We got our message out through meeting with over 90 Congressional and executive offices, holding a media conference, and distributing our Nuclear Budget Busters report.

At our 2012 DC Days awards reception, we honored Rep. Loretta Sanchez (CA-47), Rep. Ed Markey (MA-7), Ralph Hutchison (Coordinator of the Oak Ridge Environmental Peace Alliance), Mary Dickson (a "downwinder" activist and member of the Healthy Environment Alliance of Utah), and Oleg Boldrov (environmental cleanup advocate and member of the Russian organization Movement for Nuclear Safety).

Rep. Sanchez was chosen because of her work to ensure nuclear safety and security, particularly by supporting important funding for the Global Threat Reduction Initiative and the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board. Rep. Markey was selected for his award because of his unflagging commitment to nuclear disarmament, particularly through his Smarter Approach to Nuclear Expenditures Act (HR. 3974).
