The topic of what to do with spent nuclear fuel is ripe for debate. Commercial utilities, the Department of Energy, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission all have important legal and moral obligations to responsibly manage the waste that's been produced in the past six decades.

Several proposals for dealing with spent nuclear fuel have been pursued since the dawn of the nuclear age. ANA's perspectives on some of the more relevant proposals can be found below.

She coordinates IEER’s Healthy from the Start Campaign, which seeks to shift the focus of radiation protection standards from Reference Man (a hypothetical adult male) to those most at risk, in particular women, children and future generations. Lisa has worked on nuclear issues for a decade, in particular health and environmental impacts of nuclear weapons production and testing. Lisa earned a BS in Biology from Eastern Michigan University and two Master’s degrees (Environmental Science and Public Affairs) from Indiana University.
